Global status of multi-hazard early warning systems 2023 (UNDRR)

5x fewer people are affected by disasters in countries with good multi-hazard early warning system (MHEWS) coverage. Timely early warnings can be the difference between life and death. While the number of countries with early warning systems is steadily increasing, the least developed countries (LDCs), landlocked developing countries (LLDCs), and small island developing States (SIDS) are lagging. Strong risk governance mechanisms are key to enabling progress.
