Albert Martis has been the Director Meteorological Department Curaçao and Permanent Representative of the Curaçao and St. Maarten with WMO since 2010. From 2008 to 2010, he served as Director Meteorological Services Netherlands Antilles and Aruba and as the Permanent Representative of Netherlands Antilles and Aruba with the WMO. Pior to that, from 2000-2007, Dr Martis was the Chief Climate Research Division at the Meteorological Services Netherlands Antilles and Aruba. Over this entire period (2000 to present), he served in WMO as an expert and member of various task force, committees and commissions - including, the Constituent Bodies Reform Task Force.
After obtaining his Masters in Science degree in Physics at the University of Nijmegen (Netherlands) in 1994, Dr Matthis completed his PhD in Atmospheric Physics at the University of Bonn (Germany) in 1998. He has authored and co-authored several publications.
