PhD was based at the UK Met Office, comparing global atmospheric data assimilation methods (4DVar vs 4DEnVar). I then did a Post-doc at Meteo-France (CNRM) from 2014-2016, helping to develop a land data assimilation production chain over France (LDAS-France), which has since developed into a global system (LDAS Monde). I have been based at ECMWF since June 2017 and am funded by the EUMETSAT H SAF project. My work involves the production, development and validation of H SAF root-zone soil moisture products. These global products sample the top 1-metre of soil and are derived by assimilating ASCAT level 2 surface soil moisture in the ecLand model.
