Luca Ciabatta
Luca Ciabatta research activity regards the use of satellite rainfall and soil moisture data for hydrological applications, with a focus on the mitigation of natural hazards including hydrological and land surface water balance modeling, remote sensing of precipitation and floods and landslides hazard assessment through remote sensing data. He participated in several research projects in the frame of Italian and European programs and in collaboration with Italian and international institutions. Among them, he is involved in the Satellite Application Facility on Support to Operational Hydrology and Water Management (H-SAF) project funded by EUMETSAT and he has participated in the projects “Climate Change Initiative – Soil Moisture”, DTE Hydrology, 4DMED, GLANCE and EO4FLOOD funded by ESA. He is a Member of the Italian Hydrological Society (SII) and the International Precipitation Working Group (IPWG).
