Alberto Arribas is the European lead for sustainability science at Microsoft (Sustainability Science Team - Microsoft Research).
He is a Visiting Professor at the University of Reading Atmospheric Science Department and has published widely in the fields of weather and climate modelling and prediction. Prior to Microsoft, he led the development of prediction systems and end-user applications at UK Met Office and founded the Informatics Lab, an innovation department where he led award-winning projects with top teams in the technology industry (Google’s DeepMind, AWS, Microsoft’s AI for Earth).
Alberto is a member of the European Environment Agency (EEA) Scientific Committee and a member of the UK Natural Environment Research Council Digital Research Steering Committee. He has served as an expert reviewer for the UK Parliament Office for Science and Technology and the European Commission in the area of Future and Emerging Technologies. He holds a BSc in Physics and a PhD in Climate Modelling (UCM, Spain), and a Diploma in Strategy and Innovation (Univ. Oxford, UK).
