Let's get personal - how personalised flood alerts could save lives

Ilias Pechlivanidis is an Associate Professor and Senior Researcher in Hydrology and Water Resources at the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute and the Project Leader of the Flooding Analytics and Dissemination Centre for the Copernicus Emergency Management Service. He is a Member of the WMO Research Board, and Expert Member on Hydrology of the EUMETSAT. His scientific achievements across the world focus on hydrometeorological predictions, science communication, early warning and user-tailored services. 

In this talk, Ilias exposes the life-threatening consequences of generic flood warnings and illustrates how personalized alerts, tailored to individual needs and specific conditions, can be life-saving. He issues a powerful call to action, showing that flood warnings must go beyond general alerts to become clear, actionable guidance every single person can understand and follow.
