Eoin Moran has been the Director of Met Éireann since 2016 and has led Ireland’s representation to several international meteorological organizations, consortia, and cooperative networks, including as:
- Chair of the EUMETSAT Council (2022 - present)
- Chair of ECMWF Policy Advisory Committee (PACT) (2019 - present)
- Permanent Representative of Ireland to the World Meteorological Organization (2016 - present)
- Chair of EUMETNET Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee (STAC) (2015 - 2019)
- Member of Ireland’s Climate Change Advisory Council (2021 - present)
As Director of Met Éireann, he has also led several national initiatives in Ireland including:
- Establishment of Ireland’s National Framework for Climate Services (NFCS)
- Establishment of the Met Éireann Weather and Climate Research Programme
- Co-founder of the United Weather Centres West (UWC-west) HPC and operational NWP cooperative in partnership with the Directors of DMI, the IMO and KNMI in 2018
- Establishment of the National Flood Forecasting Centre in Met Éireann in 2017
- Developed the Making Ireland Weather and Climate Prepared 2017-2027 strategic plan for Met Éireann in 2017.
