Josefina Bunge
Josefina Bunge is an experienced international lawyer with a distinguished career spanning over 15 years in multilateral diplomacy, international law, environmental governance, and trade policy. Before joining the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) as Chief of Staff, she served as Deputy Permanent Representative at Argentina’s Permanent Mission to the International Organizations in Geneva.
In this role, she led Argentina’s team in a wide range of negotiations and acted as facilitator of the process to establish the World Trade Organization (WTO) Fisheries Subsidies Committee. Previously, she was Coordinator for Ocean Policy and South Atlantic Issues at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of Argentina.
Ms. Bunge brings a wealth of experience in multilateral and bilateral diplomacy, having held leadership positions focused on oceans policy, environment, sustainable development, and international trade law. She has been an advocate for Argentina’s priorities in global forums, chairing UN meetings and facilitating international negotiations across a broad spectrum of policy areas.
She holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Public International Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science, where she graduated with merit. She also holds a law degree from the University of Buenos Aires, where she graduated with honors. Fluent in Spanish, English, and French, Ms. Bunge has worked closely with governments, international organizations, and civil society to build effective partnerships and advance global cooperation on sustainability and economic development.
