The first World Day for Glaciers and World Water Day will be celebrated jointly on 21 March 2025, with special events in New York (the pivot event) and Paris.

The 2025 global campaign for the World Day for Glaciers and World Water Day, will highlight the various impacts of glacier changes on downstream communities and ecosystems, and the urgent need for developing water-related adaptation strategies in areas affected by shrinking or disappearing glaciers, more transboundary cooperation and community engagement, alongside continued support for ambitious reductions in fossil fuel consumption. The campaign will also engage youth audiences and develop synergies with the UN Decade of Action for Cryospheric Sciences (2025-2034).
